mentorship program

The Anusara Yoga Mentorship program is an invaluable step in the process of teacher training. It is designed to help teachers cultivate depth, skill and mastery in teaching. It is a fanatastic opportunity to receive in-depth guidance from a Certified Anusara Yoga™ Teacher, and peer feedback in a supportive group atmosphere.

The Anusara Yoga Mentorship program is offered by application process only to students who have already completed at least 50 preferably 100 hours of Anusara Yoga teacher Training, and have demonstrated significant skill level in their teaching. Students entering a Mentorship program should be aligned with Anusara Yoga™ and have an intention of applying for certification. The Mentorship program can take a maximum number of 10 students who commit to attending both weekends.

The format for the Mentorship program is as follows:

Friday 5-8pm: Friday evening’s class will include: Group introductions and check in, logistics for the course, Q & A, group discussion, review of teaching challenges, setting intention for the weekend, and 1-2 students teaching their classes.

Saturday & Sunday 9am–1pm and 2–6pm, each of the 10 students will teach a 75 minute yoga class emphasizing the specific topics for that weekend. They will be given these topics in advance and will also be given a copy of the Certification Video Assessment form so they have full knowledge of what to include in the class they prepare in advance of the program. All forms and formats for the weekend will be sent to attending students at least 2 weeks prior to the first weekend.

At the end of their class, students will have the opportunity to receive feedback from their peers. Feedback will be structured and monitored to insure it is positive, helpful and kind. The feedback process begins with a self evaluation followed by peer review which includes what was excellent about the class, what worked well, etc., followed by what could have been improved upon. Each student participating in the program will have the opportunity to receive and offer feedback.

While each class is being taught, Deb will take notes and complete the Certification Video assessment form for each teacher who offers a class. After each weekend, Deb will set up a time by telephone to give specific feedback on each class taught, much like video assessors currently review certification videos.
