The Anahata Yoga Center has been in official existence since July 15, 1999.
It was established as a center to promote the teachings and practices of the
Indian spiritual traditions including Yoga, meditation, breath work and
scriptural study as well as more modern techniques of healing and inquiry.
The Anahata Yoga Center is a very special and sacred movement, meditation
and yoga center that specifically promotes the teachings of Anusara. We are
staffed by: one Designated Teacher Trainer, one Affiliated teacher, and
several teachers who are deeply involved in the Anusara system and who have
completed extensive training. The Center offers private instruction,
classes, workshops and trainings for candidates of all levels. Please see
our Training schedule and list of special events for more information.
About the name Anahata:
Anahata is the name of the Heart Chakra, the center of spiritual energy in
the body that surrounds and governs the vital functioning of the heart. The
heart, as the spiritual and physical center of the body governs vitality,
well-being, integration and wholeness.
Anahata means "Sound that is made without any two things striking". It can
also mean unstruck, unhurt, fresh and clean. It's emphasis is on moving
into Harmony, taking our place as Conscious beings in a cosmic order that is
pulsating with Consciousness. The heart center, Anahata Chakra, is the
center of love, the central point in the physical and spiritual bodies. It
is the place of our core, the inner essence that unites our mind, body and
spirit; our place on earth as human beings with our longing to know
something greater. The symbol for the heart chakra is a circle of 12 lotus
petals surrounding 2 intersecting triangles forming a 6-pointed star. The
triangles represent the descent of spirit into the body and the ascent of
matter as it rises toward spirit. Spirit and matter, earth and sky meet in
the heart and combine to form a star that radiates outward.
